I've been naughty: Proof by pre-orders

Today, I want to talk about a very serious matter (now you know it really won't be)...Pre-orders!
Usually when I order books I feel bad 3 or 4 days later when I receive them. But Pre-ordering is worse! Why? Because I pre-order months ahead, then forget completely about them and when I get the books in the mail I realize how much I spent (or better said my parents point it out for me lol). With a book already out, I know that I'll have to check the mail a few days later and 'hide' them from my parents (well I'd like to think it's more about 'sneaking them in' lol), but with pre-orders it's more difficult.I realized my Pre-ordering addiction today when I looked at my Book Depository account. Ahem...so here's the list of books I've pre-ordered:
My excuse for Pre-ordering is that they usually ship the books before the release date *g*
Susi's tiny 2 cents:
Ahem...yeah I always forget to pre-order much in advance. I usually do that a week or so before release date. But I actually have 2 books pre-ordered right now- Magic Slays and Hunt the Moon. Yes now I feel like the less-book lover. LOL
Caroline: What Susi isn't saying is that she went a little crazy on book ordering last week! LOL So I don't feel as bad ;)
Are you a pre-ordering kinda person? Please tell me I'm not the only addicted here ;)

I don't usually preorder, I wait until the book is released. I think the main reason is that I don't want to forget about the book - it would be easy to buy it elsewhere, or maybe win a copy, and then I've got it twice.
I just ordered Hounded, so I am looking forward to Hexed and Hammered. I definitely want Just Like Heaven as well.
@Barbara Ohhh Hounded was AWESOME!! I'm just SOOOOOO excited about Hexed! *g*
What I like about Pre-ordering is that I usually get them early!
@Barbara The thing with me and pre-oders: I always forget that I already pre-ordered it and then I end up with 2 or more copies. LOL
bad bad Caro ;)
Nope I do not pre-order
@Blodeuedd *hangs head in shame* This is a bad habit i've developed ;)
oh I pre-order a lot of books too and one of the reasons I do it is that pre-ordered books are a little bit cheaper too (at TBD) and then I can't resist them ;)
@Melanie You're right they are often cheaper too! See 2 good reasons to pre-order *g*
You both have some nice pre-ordered books, though!
I don't pre order much, just the books I really really want!
And then I get punished for pre ordering by having to wait ages for the book to arrive or it getting lost in the mail. Really: somehow this always happens with pre ordered books.
@Julia *g* Am soooo excited about those!
@Sullivan Damn that sucks. The ONLY time I had a problem with a pre-order was with Shadowfever. It took 3 weeks to ship . *sob*
@blodeuedd I agree Bad Caro!!
@Melanie S. okay a good reason to do that!
@Julia Yes we do. There are just some books I can't resist!
@Sullivan McPig True, I had that problem once too but usually they are early. ((hugs)) Hope you will get Enemy Games soon.
o ladies, then I am in good company. I pre-order a lot! And especially with this lovely 10 percent discount the Bookdepository is ordering, a pre-ordered book costs only € 3,78! And for that little money, I bought an awesome lot of books. I have scoured Fantasticfiction for all my favourite authors, and pre-ordered everything I could find till february 2012! Why wait until they are more expensive? And yes, I had the habit of double ordering, but now I keep really good track of what I have ordered and where.
@Aurian WOW Feb 2012?!!! Wow lol you're seeing far in the future *g*
But you're right, why not get them when they are at the lowest price! *g*
@Aurian Don't mention the discount. I already went batshit crazy the day I got that email. Have to wait at least another week before ordering more. And I plan to keep track more too. Have to love google docs. *g*
